WELCOME to the South County Community Services (SCCS) website!

Our mission is all about connecting people and resources to improve quality of life.

We serve approximately 25,000 individuals who live in the southern tier of Kalamazoo County. This includes the villages of Vicksburg, Schoolcraft and Climax and the townships of Pavilion, Climax, Prairie Ronde, Schoolcraft, Brady and Wakeshma. Geographically we cover 38% of Kalamazoo County. Additionally we serve families in the Vicksburg and Schoolcraft School Districts who may live within neighboring jurisdictions. Within this population there are at least 11% living below the poverty level. Of the poverty level recorded, 37%, would be classified as being seniors,
many of whom are living on fixed incomes.
Our operational mission includes the following:
  •        Emergency assistance (food, housing, utilities, prescriptions and transportation)
  •        Resource referral

  •        Service programs for persons of all ages

Our programs focus on individual and family support, housing assistance, employment readiness, resource management, ride assistance, and promotion of health and wellness. To be successful, we rely on strong community support and volunteer dedication. We partner with the many other agencies and programs that provide critical support  for area families. We are proud to house a satellite office for the Department of Human Services. For your convenience we host numerous helping professionals locally on a regular basis.  Please use our website to learn about what we can do for you and your family. Help us inform others in the community. Life has many challenges as well as many opportunities. The SCCS team stands ready to serve. Stop in at 101 S Main in Vicksburg or give us a call at 269-649-2901.   We are open Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm. On Wednesday we offer evening hours until 5:30 pm.
